wow. it has been kind of crazy around here. i think i'm officially all settled in, though, which is nice. i got the finishing touches for my room, so now it's just going to be a matter of doing all my schoolwork. yikes!
i'm actually trying to think of what i did this weekend, and nothing in particular stands out. i went on a few random walks to various parts of the city i have never been to before. in fact, we did get lost at one point. the problem with getting lost in reality as opposed to getting lost in theory is that in reality, you don't find yourself on cute little cobblestoned walks with adorable little shops and such. you just find yourself on random roads with lots of various kinds of everything shops (which are the shops that are kind of like a gas station, minus selling the gas), and a few random cafes that serve food you've never heard of. so yeah. really nothing very spectacular about that at all. i'm thinking maybe i should try to get lost in a different area.
just the same, i did have a small adventure when getting the chair i now have in my room. i found it online from a couple moving to london, so i went to pick it up, and had ordered a taxi to drive the chair and me back to my flat. well, apparently, someone else had also ordered a taxi for the same house, and i took the wrong taxi. and, when we were about 1 minute from our house, we had to turn around, because the woman was PISSED (american pissed, not british). granted, she only had to wait an extra 5 minutes or so, since i lived about 2 miles from the house, but still. so my friend and i quickly moved the chair to the other taxi waiting, apologized profusely, then went on our way. so now i have a lovely orange mini-futon chair in my room, which goes BEAUTIFULLY with all of the rasberry colored everything else that i have. but it works, and when people visit, they will officially have a place to sleep. (actually, it's pretty comfortable, too, which i was surprised about.)
so yeah. that's about it. i have a ton of reading left to do for classes this week, which i'm not too excited about. apparently we will have about 25-30 hours of reading every week. yeah, thanks to everyone who has their MA already and didn't warn me about that. but it's all good, because now i have a comfy chair to read in, rather than in bed, where i would just tend to fall asleep.
i think that's about it. i'm going to put up pictures on facebook from a few of my walks/adventures, as well as a few of my room, by request. it's a tiny room, but it works, since i really don't need a lot of space. i was really worried at the beginning as to how small it is (it's smaller than my freshman year dorm), but i'm actually okay with it now. minus the lack of storage. but i've taken care of that. i've put my luggage in various closets throughout the house. :)
i will talk to you all soon!

Why did it matter which taxi you took?
